During its May 13 meeting, the Franklin Special School District Board of Education honored outgoing Board member Melanie Hembree for her five years of service. Several students from Franklin and Brentwood were named this year's National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners. A total of 2,500 students were chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.
