Septic issues have Happy Tales again searching for new location

Happy Tales is currently housing its cats at a temporary location in The Factory at Franklin.

It looked like Happy Tales Humane had secured a new home at 1282 Lewisburg Pike in Franklin, but plans to be in the new shelter by the end of January fell through.

Director Debbi Cure said septic issues on the premises were the cause.

The no-kill animal shelter that has spent the past 14 years housed at The Factory in Franklin was asked to relocate last November when the new owners decided to go in a different direction with the building.

Happy Tales was given until mid-January to find a new location. The facility on Lewisburg Pike would have allowed Happy Tales to fulfill goals of housing dogs, presently cared for through a fostering program.

“We chose to move on to locate a place that will allow us room to grow and help more animals and the community,” Cure said.

“We do not have a place at this time,” Cure added. “The Factory is letting us temporarily house our cats at a location in The Factory until we are able to get into our new home.”

Cure said she hopes to at least have pinpointed an address in the next 30 days.
